This year VODG in partnership with Reside with Progress and co-sponsored by Autism Together, Brandon Trust, Certitude, Choice Support, Dimensions, Hft, Look Ahead, MacIntyre, Options, PSS, Turning Point, United Response and VoiceAbility held a fringe meeting at Labour Party Conference on Ending the Scandal of Autistic People and People and with a Learning Disability detained in Long-Stay Units.
Each VODG member involved in the session shared slides, which can be found here, showcasing work they are developing, resources and quotes from people they support, emphasiing the benefit of third sector community-based provision.
The presentation provides a broad and unique insight into the range of support on offer from VODG members and demonstrated to the Disability Minister the importance of pivoting investment into the community, rather than hospital settings.
