Project Title: Protective factors against burnout: an investigation into the relationship between perceived organisational support and mindfulness with staff burnout in services that support autistic individuals.

I am Huw Price, a postgraduate student in Autism Studies at the University of Kent, UK. As part of my studies, I am conducting a research study on the above topic and would appreciate your participation. Some background information has been provided below, so you can decide if you want to take part.

Inclusion Criteria

Your participation would be greatly appreciated if:
• You work in a direct support role supporting autistic individuals who display behaviours of concern (often referred to as ‘challenging behaviour’).
• You are aged 18 or over.
• You work in the United Kingdom.

Purpose of the study

The purpose of the study is to investigate perceived organizational support and mindfulness and how these relate with staff burnout in services that support autistic individuals who display behaviours of concern.

Why you are being asked to participate

If you are aged 18 or above and work in the United Kingdom in a direct support role, working with autistic people who display behaviours of concern, your participation would be greatly appreciated. Your participation is completely voluntary. If you decide to volunteer your time, follow the link below to the survey where you will be asked to consent to your participation. You are free to withdraw your consent for up to two weeks after participating without giving a reason.

What you will be asked to do

If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete a short survey that takes around 5-10 minutes to complete. You can access the survey by clicking on the link below.

What will happen to your information

Your information will be stored anonymously, and you will not be asked to provide your name or place of work if you participate. All of the information collected for the study will be treated confidentially and will be securely stored. Individual participants will not be identifiable in the final report. What happens if you wish to make any comments?

You will be given a form at the end of your involvement, so that you can give feedback or make a complaint. In addition, at any time, you can contact my supervisor by email.
