We are calling on Disabled people and people with long-term health conditions from Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic groups* to share their views and experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic as part of our Commission on COVID-19, Disablism and Systemic Racism. We’re also keen to hear from their families, carers and people who work in social care.
The evidence gathered will help us to hold the UK government to account over failings during the pandemic, and build solutions for transformative and sustainable change in health and social care.
We know that Disabled people, as well as people from Black, Asian, and minoritised ethnic groups, experienced disproportionate levels of harm during the pandemic. This was both in terms of risk of infection, illness and death from COVID-19 but also because of the wider impact of COVID-19 on socioeconomic and health inequalities that already existed for these groups of people.
But what was the impact on Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic Disabled people?
Taking adult social care as our primary focus, we want to explore this intersection and learn more about COVID-19, disablism, and systemic racism and identify solutions that directly tackle the long-standing inequalities and discrimination faced by Disabled people from Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic groups.

If you also tell us about your disability or health condition and your ethnicity that will help us to better understand people’s responses.
