Simon will share his expert analysis of the new government and the implications for disability and social care third sector providers.
This session follows the King’s Speech on 17 July. Simon will reflect on the legislative programme for the year ahead and the wider policy agenda likely to impact VODG members.
In addition to hearing from Simon, the session will also provide a timely opportunity for Chief Executives to share their perspectives on the new government’s agenda.

Before joining The King’s Fund in September 2017, Simon spent almost 10 years as Director of Policy at the older people’s charity Independent Age, researching and campaigning on issues including care home quality, unmet needs for care, social care funding and the social care workforce. He was vice-chair of the Care and Support Alliance in 2017.
Simon has wide experience in policy, communications and journalism, including as Director of Communications at Citizens Advice. He has also worked for ActionAid, in the commercial sector for Guinness and in BBC local radio.

Prior to joining VODG Rhidian’s career spanned a range of senior research, regulation and consultancy roles. He worked in management consultancy across the health and social care sectors and before that in regulation. Earlier in his career Rhidian held academic appointments, leading programmes of social policy research.
Rhidian was educated at the University of York where he also earned his Doctorate.
